Guest house (half board)

> Description | Terms

The house, a 13th century watch-tower slightly enlarged over the course of the centuries and lovingly restored by us, is perched on a hillside overlooking the ancient city of Cortona, with panoramic views over more than 80kms of the Val de Chiana.  It is set in the heart of peaceful olive groves above which stretch the wooded Tuscan hills.

We can offer a 3-roomed, self-contained apartment in the oldest part of the house, comprising:

  • sitting-room (with a large selection of books in English, French, Italian, Dutch; television; CD player; wood-burning stove)
  • double bedroom (double bed) with washbasin
  • large bathroom

The apartment has a separate entrance and has use of the garden and a series of terraces for sitting and relaxing, in sun or shade.

A double room (with washbasin) can also be made available in the main house, allowing 2 (or even 3) additional guests to be accommodated and to share use of the sitting-room and large bathroom.

There’s a small swimming pool (5m x 3.5m) close by in the garden, with a larger one (7.5m x 4m) about 300 metres away down the hill.

Half board provides for an English-type breakfast and a minimum 3-course dinner, including all drinks (aperitifs, wine, liqueurs, coffee, tea).

Animals are welcome and will join our own 3 dogs, 3 cats and 4 donkeys.

A Fiat Panda car is available for rental to guests.

The house is strictly non-smoking and is, unfortunately, not suitable for wheelchair users.

Such a stay is ideally suited to those looking for peace and tranquillity in beautiful surroundings, to walkers and nature lovers, and also to those wishing to make touristic or cultural visits in the surrounding area.  The ancient city of Cortona, perched on the hill opposite the house, is only 3kms away by road. Siena, Assisi, Perugia, Arezzo, Orvieto, Pienza, the thermal springs of Bagno Vignoni or Rapolano, Florence or Rome - and many other heritage sites - are all easily accessible.
